This work addresses the inevitable failure of attempting to grasp the present. How to Draw a Drawing is a performance that
results in a drawing and video feed achieved within a strict set of parameters. The work includes a rack which carries rolls of newsprint, a table, and a motor connected to a pedal that viewers are invited to step on pulling the paper away from the artists. The artists will stand across one another and draw regardless if the paper is moving or not. The subject of the drawing is conceptual or related to an image, but changes with given environments.

The second component of this work is a projection that is placed in a location separate from where the performance takes place. The projection displays an image of the paper as it gathers, achieved through a live video feed. The paper is filmed collecting or staying still and is a composition or a drawing in the making.
